5th Grade Teacher

Due to growing enrollment, SJNA is seeking an additional 5th Grade Teacher to join our team. As a cornerstone of our educational mission, a 5th Grade Teacher at SJNA plays a vital role in nurturing young minds and preparing our students for their Middle School years ahead.

Responsibilities include teaching all core subjects (excludes enhancement classes); create engaging lesson plans aligned with the school's curriculum and standards; foster a positive classroom environment that promotes respect, empathy, and cooperation; communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues; actively participate in school-wide events, meetings, and professional development opportunities; uphold the mission and values of SJNA in all aspects of teaching and interactions with students, parents, and staff.

Selected candidate must have a B.A. or M.A.in Elementary Education/Curriculum Instruction, related teaching or student teaching experience, a current VA teacher license (or in the process of obtaining a VA teaching license), be creative, flexible, organized, have strong communication skills, be willing to contribute positively to our dynamic school community, and excited to teach in an academically rigorous and collaborative school environment.

Middle School Math Teacher

As a cornerstone of our educational mission, a Middle School Teacher at SJNA plays a vital role in nurturing young minds and preparing our students for their High School years ahead.

Responsibilities include teaching Middle School Math and Algebra I aligned with the school's curriculum and standards, coordinate/lead homeroom responsibilities for one of the Middle School Classes; teaching one Middle School Enhancement Class (to be determined based on selected candidate’s past experience/expertise); foster a positive classroom environment that promotes respect, empathy, and cooperation; communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues; actively participate in school-wide events, meetings, and professional development opportunities; uphold the mission and values of SJNA in all aspects of teaching and interactions with students, parents, and staff.

Selected candidate must have a B.A. or M.A.in Middle School Education/Curriculum Instruction, a current VA teacher license or in the process of obtaining a VA teaching license with an endorsement to teach Middle School Math and Algebra I, be creative/flexible, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, be willing to contribute positively to our dynamic school community, and excited to teach in an academically rigorous and collaborative school environment.

After School Program Team Member (Part Time)

St. John Neumann Academy, Blacksburg, is seeking two part-time After School Program Team Members for the 2024 – 2025 school year. (Mondays - Fridays from 3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Five days/week (Mondays – Fridays) is ideal, but we can also work around college classes and consider two or three days/week.)

The selected candidates will supervise and ensure the safety of the Preschool – 8th Grade students who attend this program, plan fun/learning activities (inside and outside), assist students with their homework, and build/maintain positive relationships with parents during check-out of the program. Ideal candidates should have experience working with children in a large or small group setting, be flexible and reliable, and work collaboratively with other After School Program team members.
