Openings for the 2025 – 2026 School Year:

4th & 5th Grade Teaching Assistant: 
SJNA is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support both our 4th and 5th Grade classrooms. This is a wonderful opportunity to join a faith-based school community that values both academic excellence, character development, and joyful learning. 

Position Overview:

  • The Teaching Assistant will work closely with both homeroom teachers to support instruction, daily routines, and classroom management. The ideal candidate is organized, flexible, and passionate about working with children. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience and schedule.

Schedule:

  • Monday–Friday, with flexible hours based on the candidate’s availability. Options include 8:45 a.m.–2:45 p.m. or 8:45 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
  • This position follows the SJNA academic calendar (August–May).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with small group instruction and student support in both 4th and 5th Grade classrooms
  • Support teachers with grading, classroom organization, and preparation of instructional materials.
  • Help supervise students during lunch and recess
  • Provide general classroom support as needed, including transitions and behavior monitoring
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and Christ-centered classroom environment

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children in a school, tutoring, or similar setting is preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
  • High school diploma required; some college coursework or a degree in education or a related field is a plus. (A Virginia teaching license is not required — this role is a great fit for retired educators or individuals with relevant experience.)

After-School Program Leader:
SJNA is seeking a caring, energetic, and organized person to lead our After-School Program. This is a rewarding opportunity to positively impact students in a supportive, faith-filled school community.

Position Overview:

  • The After-School Program Leader is responsible for creating a welcoming, structured, and engaging environment where students feel safe, valued, and active after the school day ends. This individual will manage daily program activities and ensure strong communication with families at pick-up. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in students’ lives every day, competitive hourly pay, and professional development opportunities. 

Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday, 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • This position follows the SJNA academic calendar (August–May).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the program for students in Preschool through 8th Grade
  • Develop/implement activity plans including arts & crafts, games, and enrichment projects
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and positive environment
  • Build strong relationships with students and parents; communicate effectively during pick-up times

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children in a school or childcare setting
  • Ability to multitask, stay organized, and adapt plans when needed
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
